ISLAMIC, Seljuks. Rum. Rukn al-Din Sulayman II, as Malik, AH 589-592 / AD 1193-1196. Dirham (Bronze, 29 mm, 6.95 g, 10 h), uncertain mint (Tokat?), without date. Facing horseman, nimbate, riding to right and holding three-forked scepter; behind six-pointed star. Rev. Legend in Kufic in inner field and around. Broome 39B. Izmirlier 47. Repatinated, otherwise, good very fine.

This type was issued by Sulayman II shortly after the death of his father, Qilich Arslan II, when he was still a Malik (prince). Some years later, Sulayman II expelled his brother, Kay Khusraw, and became the sole ruler of the Rum Sultanate.
